MISSION STATEMENT

Mark making is an expressive language in ways similar to musical notations, words, and numbers. In image making, each individual mark is an element that coalesce to make a bigger picture. My heritage plays a crucial role in the development of my personal pictorial language. I was born in Vietnam and emigrated to the United States almost two decades ago. I have eastern roots with western cultivation. This duality of identity manifests itself throughout my work. There is a constant struggle of whether or not to model and render or embrace the flat quality of the image. Art making is an outlet to this struggle as it accompanies my journey of self-discovery.
